The post-9/11 narrative about Iraq pushed me back to my hometown and into journalism.

Feurat Alani
Feurat Alani is a Dubai-based French Iraqi journalist and documentary filmmaker who's spent over 15 years reporting from across the Middle East. He's the author of two graphic novels Le Parfum d’Irak (Flavors of Iraq), which won France's highest journalism prize in 2019, and more recently, Falloujah, ma campagne perdue (Fallujah, my lost campaign). His work has appeared in a variety of French and international outlets including Le Monde Diplomatique, France 24, Mediapart, Al Jazeera, Arte, Canal Plus, and Radio Canada.
