As a nonprofit news organization, we’re funded by individuals like you who believe in the value of fearless investigative reporting.
Is the cost of my membership tax deductible?
The Center for Investigative Reporting is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and your membership contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please note that if you opt to receive a membership benefit, such as a mug, t-shirt or tote bag, we are obligated by law to deduct the fair market value of that item from the tax-deductible amount recorded on your receipt.
How can I receive a receipt for my donation?
Upon making a donation, you will receive an emailed receipt. Donations are processed once every hour, so your receipt may take up to 60 minutes to arrive. We will also email you a year-end statement which includes your annual donation total.
Can I purchase a membership as a gift for someone else?
Yes. After completing your membership transaction, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know the name and email address of the person in whose name the membership should be recorded. We will contact the recipient of the membership according to your instructions.
How long does a membership last?
Our memberships last for 12 months, from the date of your first contribution. If you give monthly, your membership is valid through the last month of your last donation.
How do I change address/contact information?
