The Online News Association has honored Reveal with two of its Online Journalism Awards, which celebrate the best in digital journalism.

Both of the Reveal projects that won awards were collaborations with leading newsrooms. They are:

  • Case Cleared: How Rape Goes Unpunished in America, which won the Al Neuharth Innovation in Investigative Journalism Award in the Medium Newsroom category. The project, in collaboration with Newsy and ProPublica, uncovered how dozens of police agencies in America are making rape cases look as though they are solved when they simply have been closed. The investigation has forced positive change around the country. Read, watch or listen to the project here.
  • Monumental Lies, which won for Excellence in Audio Digital Storytelling. In the radio show, two reporters from Type Investigations – one black, one white – travel to Confederate monuments and learn the twisted history still being taught on the grounds, all with the help of more than $40 million in taxpayer money. The show also tells the story of an attempt to create a new monument to the conquistador who built the first Spanish settlement in New Mexico and how an act of vandalism turned it into a public fight over the history of colonization.
